Term 1 closes on Monday December 2. Middle school is a crucial time in a student's academic journey, and it marks the beginning of the transition of academic responsibility from parents to students. By the time a child leaves middle school, the goal is for them to take the reins of their academic journey, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership. It's a pivotal phase in their development where self-motivation and organizational skills become increasingly important.
Understanding that every child is unique and may require different timelines for taking on these responsibilities, we appreciate and encourage individualized approaches. Some students may embrace academic independence sooner, while others may need additional time and guidance, and that is perfectly okay.
A valuable tool to assist you in supporting your child's academic journey is the PowerSchool Parent Portal. While no tool or platform is perfect, the Parent Portal provides some real-time access to your child's grades, assignments, and other important information. Regularly checking the portal allows you to stay informed about your child's progress and helps facilitate meaningful conversations about their schoolwork.
We encourage students to make sure they are up to date and take advantage of any available re-do or retakes, extra help or support during their ICE block, after school extra help sessions or by attending the Lancer Lyons Learning Center.
As the saying goes - We can not be upset or disappointed by the results we did not get from the work we did not do.
Some upcoming dates:
