Term 1 grades have closed. Students' term 1 grades can now be viewed through the PowerSchool App or through the website.
Please note an actual traditional copy of the report card that can be printed can only be seen and accessed through the PowerSchool website and not the APP.Middle school is a crucial time in a student's academic journey, and it marks the beginning of the transition of academic responsibility from parents to students. By the time a child leaves middle school, the goal is for them to take the reins of their academic journey, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership. It's a pivotal phase in their development where self-motivation and organizational skills become increasingly important.
Understanding that every child is unique and may require different timelines for taking on these responsibilities, we appreciate and encourage individualized approaches. Some students may embrace academic independence sooner, while others may need additional time and guidance, and that is perfectly okay.
A valuable tool to assist you in supporting your child's academic journey is the PowerSchool Parent Portal. While no tool or platform is perfect, the Parent Portal provides some real-time access to your child's grades, assignments, and other important information. Regularly checking the portal allows you to stay informed about your child's progress and helps facilitate meaningful conversations about their schoolwork.
We encourage students to make sure they are up to date and take advantage of any available re-do or retakes, extra help or support during their ICE block, after school extra help sessions or by attending the Lancer Lyons Learning Center.
As the saying goes - We can not be upset or disappointed by the results we did not get from the work we did not do.
Some upcoming dates:
New Specials for grades 7 and 8 begin on Thursday December 19
Students and parents should check the PowerSchool Community portal throughout the Specials cycle to see their grades and any missing assignments.**
Remember, our ultimate goal is to empower our students to take ownership of their education. Your involvement and support play a vital role in helping them achieve this. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers.
NMS Extra Help
Additional help and support individually or in a small group is a key intervention to increase understanding and improve student achievement.
Check = Times are mostly stable but can change so we advise checking the day prior if your child plans on staying. There is a link to the schedule below.
Plan = In order to make the most of the time it is beneficial and we strongly encourage that you email the teacher prior to staying. Prior notification can allow the teacher to review records, gather any needed materials and/or missing assignments. NMS Teacher and Staff Email List

Food for thought ...
“To all of the students - no school report card can tell you whether you can achieve your dream or not. Know your purpose, know your dream, know your vision, stay focused, do your job and do not listen to anyone including your report card. Do what you are passionate about, work harder, do better”.
