 NMS Spirit - Wear Purple

Friday September 6th

Hello NMS Families,

Overall we had a very good start to the new school year. It is always typical to see the nervousness of the morning give way to laughing, smiling, relaxed and relived looks by the afternoon. Everyone figured out their schedules and got to classes. I saw 6th graders learning how to open their lockers.  I saw teachers and students building a sense of team and rapport. I was also pleased to see many teachers jumping right into content and challenging students to exercise their academic muscles.

We are encouraging staff and students to wear purple on Friday September 6th to celebrate school spirit and mark the end of the first week.

At NMS, teachers and staff acknowledge and recognize students' positive behaviors observed in the cafeteria, classrooms and hallways.  Excellence is often achieved by consistently doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. Each classroom has posters detailing the expected behaviors.  In addition, there are posters in the hallways and team areas detailing those desired behaviors.  The PBIS incentive program has been well received by the students, and they get very excited about the raffles.  NMS has been diligently working to foster the development of strong character and leadership amongst our student population.  Growth in the areas of kindness, respectfulness and responsibility is a constant process for the middle school age group.  It is important to support and continue reinforcing the skills and values needed to be a productive and successful member of the greater school community.

No triple double but
Today was a good day ;)

Remember to wear Purple!
